It was windy. Yulia, Gerolf and I flew in radio contact with each other. That was fun for all of us, except Gerolf, I guess:) Herding cats is not the easiest of work:)

Возвращаемся в мою любимую "вафельную" Австрию. "Вафельную" - за ее пряничные домики с черепичными крышами,опрятные цветочные дворики, внимательность к мелочам, артистизм в исполнении даже каждой обычной скамейки, мелодичный австрийиский диалект, вкуснющие супы. Целая страна вылезла со страниц детской книжки сказок.

We are coming back to my lovely "gingerbread" Austria. "Gingerbread" - for her "gingerbread" little houses with tiled roofs which remind me of gingerbread, for her well-groomed flower patios, for her attention to the little details, for her artistry in even a simple bench, for the melodic austrian dialect, and for really delicious soups:) This entire country seems to come from the fairy tale stories of my childhood.

Slovenian Open - Results

Итак, Чемпионат Словении успешно завершился. Погода не сказать, чтобы радовала, но соревнования разыграны.

The Slovenian Open is over. The weather conditions weren't very nice, but we still were able to fly enough of a competition to select the best pilots.

Slovenian Open - Task 3

Итак, последний таск. Или, как мы его назвали - работа на ошибками. Если кто не долетел в первый день до первого хребта или во второй день до второго - вот вам, сегодня летим на оба хребта:)

So, the last task of the Slovenian Open. Or, as we called it, "our homework": if you didn't manage to fly over the first ridge in the first task or over the second ridge in the second task, then - welcome! - today we fly over both:)

Таск 93 километра через 3 ппм.

Today's task is 93 kilometers with three turnpoints.

Ветер послабее, база все еще ниже высоких гор, но в целом условия лучше предыдущих дней. Что не спасло меня от бомбаута на первом поворотнике. Сложно было поверить, что надо садиться, когда летить вдоль южного склона хорошего такого хребта.

This time winds had dimminished, cloud base was still lower than the higher mountains, but altogether the weather conditions were better than before. This didn't help me to avoid landing out on the first turnpoint, though. It was even hard to believe that it was possible to land after flying all the way along the southern slope of such a nice ridge.

День опять выиграли словенцы. Похоже в Словении только словенцы и умеют летать:)

The day winners were Primoz Gricar, Peter Kejzar, Franc Peternel.

А Чемпион Европы опять забил на таск. После соревновательного сезона, видимо, мотивации летать над одним и тем же хребтом совсем не осталось.

The European Champion of the World didn't fly the task again. After competing for whole season he couldn't find enough motivation to fly over the same ridge again.

Slovenian Open - Task 2

Ветер сегодня достаточно сильный и северный в районе старта, а значит роторный. Но потоки вроде получше, чем вчера. База все еще ниже высоких гор, к сожалению. Таск поставили 69 километров через 4 ппм.

Winds were quite strong today and in the launch area it was nothern, which means rotors on the take off. Lift was better than yesterday, cloud base was still lower than higher mountains. They set a 69 kilometer task with four turnpoints.

The day winners were Suan Selenati, Franc Peternel and Primoz Gricar.

Мы стартовали в ротор. Нет, ну не все так страшно, никто даже не навернулся. Хотя почти все старты корявые. Первый термик надо было искать и обрабатывать в роторе. Это когда сначала дикий писк вверх, а потом падение без воздуха вниз. Не, ну, конечно, никто не завставлял пилотов лететь в ротор! Можно было просто развернуться и лететь на посадку вместо этого:)

We took of in rotor conditions. No, it is not that scary, nobody crashed, though almost all take-offs were rather pitiful. And one had to look for the first thermal exactly in the turbulent rotor. It is when first you have wild lifting up and right after - falling down without any air under your wings. No, it is not that scary, it is ok. Nobody forced pilots to fly into that rotor! Pilots could just turn around and fly to the landing field instead!!!;)

Я вполне могу справляться с турбулетным ротором. И я вполне могу справляться с толпой людей на одной высоте, если очень надо. Но справляться с толпой в турбулентном роторе:(...

Actually, usually I can handle turbulent rotor. And if it is really important, I can handle flying with the crowd. But to handle crowd in the rotor....:(....

Я летела и думала: если бы меня кто-нить сейчас спросил, зачем мы летаем, я бы не сказала, что я просто люблю чувствовать себя птицей. Или что я люблю свободный полет. Или что это так легко и счастливо - летать. Если бы меня кто-нить спросил в том полете, зачем я ВСЕ ЕЩЕ ЛЕЧУ, я бы сказала, что я хочу победить саму себя и свои иррациональные страхи. Это как... мы боимся, но продолжаем туда лезти (ежики кололись, но продолжали есть кактус). Сдаемся, убегаем, потом разворачиваемся и лезем еще. Чтобы переступить через самих себя. Ткнуть самих себя мордой в то, что не стОит стольких страхов и что стоИт на пути. Переступить через себя чтобы не предать себя. Что в этом такого привлекательного? Я не знаю.

I was flying and thinking: if somebody would ask me now why I fly, I wouldn't answer that I just love to feel myself like a bird. Neither is it that I love this freedom of flying, nor that it is just so easy and a happy thing - to fly. If somebody would ask me during THAT flight why right now I am STILL flying, I would answer that we probably just need to be challenged. We want to explorer our own fears even when it is really hard, such as when we are very afraid but keep trying. We give up, run away, turn around, and try again, just to overcome this stupid obstacle. Just to push our limits. To push our limits and not betray ourselves. What is so good, so appealing and attractive in it for us? I don't know.

Каждый полет - это как отдельная жизнь. Иногда легко и просто, а иногда тяжело и через саму себя. А потом на посадке можно и разреветься. От расстройства, что предал себя и свалил, или от облегчения, что не предал. Переступил. И вырос.

Every flight is like a lifetime. Sometimes it is easy and funny, sometimes it is hard. And after all, on the landing field, you can start to cry, either because of the frustration after you gave up again and betrayed some part of yourself again, or because of the relief after you didn't give up...overcame something and made a new step in your self-development.

Slovenian Open - Day 5 - Task 1

Ура! Первый таск. Короткий 70-ти километровый таск, который оказался в итоге очень даже длиииинным. Сложная погода. Выживательная. Кто сдался - тот сразу сел. Всего три человека на финише. Все три - словенцы. Знают место, сразу видно:) У победителя таска - Примоша - всего 504 очка. Я же пролетела только 24 км. Очень долгих 24 км, должна я сказать:)

Hooray! The first task finally. A short 70 kilometers task, which turned out to be veeeerrrryyy loooong. Quite tricky weather conditions. "Survivavle". If you gave up - landing comes immediately. Only three pilots made goal. All three are Slovenian pilots. They know this place it seems:) Primoz won the day and got only 504 points. 

I made only 24 km. I must say, those 24 kilometers were really really long:)

Slovenian Open - Day 4 - Flyable, Not Taskable Yet

С утра все выглядело как день сурка. Перенесли брифинг на обед.

In the morning everything reminded me of "Groundhog Day". Nothing changes. The briefing was postponed until noon.

В обед - все также безнадежно. День отменили.
At noon it looked the same; hopeless. Day canceled.

Но к вечеру распогодилось:) Голубого неба становилось все больше и больше и больше. И мы полетели:) Нелегко было оставаться в воздухе. Самый лучший поток + 0.5, весь такой порванный. За час полета удалось-таки достать до облаков, которые были всего-то на 100 метров выше старта:)

But later it became much better:) More and more blue sky! And we flew:)! Honestly, it was not that easy to stay up in the air: the best thermal was +0.5 and it was broken broken. After one hour of patient attempts I got to the cloud base which was just 100 meters higher than our launch:)

Slovenian Open - Day 3 - Canceled

Отменили еще один день из-за дождей...:(

Another day canceled :( It is raining...

Сначала прогноз на соревнования выглядел просто отличным. Чем ближе к делу, тем он хуже. Так выглядит прогноз на следующие три дня по состоянию на два часа дня. Розовый цвет - там, где обещают дождь.

In the beginning of the competition we had quite a nice weather forecast, actually. But it gets worse and worse. Right now it looks like this (at 2 PM every day; purple color is where there is a chance of rain).

Но вот прямо сейчас прогноз не совпадает с действительностью - вместо дождя - голубое небо даже! Надеемся на то, что прогноз облажается завтра:)

But right now the real situation is not the same as the weather forecast was! It promised rain, but we are having a blue sky already:)! We just hope that the weather forecast makes mistake about tomorrow as well!!!

Slovenian Open - Day 2 - Stopped & Canceled

С утра была надежда на таск - было солнце. Поставили таск: туда-сюда 82 км. Но небо быстро затянуло, на первом поворотнике пошел дождь и таск отменили.

In the morning there still was a hope for a task: it was sunny. They set 82 kilometers task back and forth. But the sky quickly became overcast, rain started to fall at the first turnpoint, and they canceled the task.

Про дождь отрепортил Герольф, слетавший на ппм и вернувшийся. Для меня остаются чудом полеты при настолько затянутом небе, если честно.

It was Gerolf who first flew to the turnpoint and back and reported about the rain. It still feels like miracle to me to fly with SUCH an overcast.

Slovenian Open - Day 1 - Canceled

Первый день отменен с утра. Солнце быстро переходит в дожди. Завтра будет лучше.
The sun quickly turns into rain. Tomorrow it's gonna be much better.

First Day In Slovenia

Словения - очень красивое и очень дружелюбное место. Очень очень рада быть здесь. Сегодня не летаем, просто слоняемся вокруг и наслаждаемся жизнью...

Slovenia is a very beautiful and friendly place. I am very glad to be here. No flying today, just cruising around and enjoying our lives...

Dutch Open - Results

Ну, поздравляйте Чемпионку Голландии:)))!!!!
Yee Hawwww! I am the Woman Champion of the Netherlands:)!!!

Понятно, что и девочек мало, и самых крутых не было, но все равно приятно:)

Yes, there were not that many girls there, and a few of the strongest ones were missing, but it still feels really good:)))

Итак, Чемпионат Голландии завершился. Было разыграно четыре таска общей длиной 420 км. За время Чемпионата никаких экстраординарных событий не произошло, за исключением сломанной руки у одного из голландских пилотов, сломанной килевой трубы у Моник и нескольких залетов в воздушное пространство Перуджии, повлекших предупреждения и даже один раз ноль очков за таск кому-то.

So, the Dutch Open is over. We had four tasks 420 kilometers long altogether. There were not any extraordinary occurrences during the competition, except for a broken arm of one of the Dutch pilots, broken keel tube on Monique's glider, and a few airspace violations.

Погода была отличная и никто (кроме, пожалуй, того, кто сломал руку) не пожалел, что приехал:)

We were really lucky with the weather conditions and nobody (except for the guy, who broke his arm, probably) was sorry that he came here:)

Dutch Open - Last Day

Хорошая погода подошла к концу и четко по расписанию включился сильный ветер и небо заволокло тучами. Два последних дня соревнований отменены. Награждение будет уже сегодня вечером.

Nice weather conditions finally came to an end: this afternoon, exactly when the weather forecast promised, we've got strong winds and overcast. Two last days of the competition cancelled. We will have prize giving ceremony tonight.

Dutch Open - Task 4

Сегодня было ветренно и ближе к вечеру обещали дожди, поэтому таск поставили короткий - 84 километра туда-сюда по хребту. База невысокая, никаких проблем с воздушным пространством Перуджии.

Today it was quite windy and they promised a little rain in the afternoon. That's why we had a short task - 84 kilometers ridge soaring. Cloud base was not very high - which meant no problem with the Perugia airspace.

Но в итоге дождя не было и была такая быстрая гонка. Герольф выиграл день с Вовой Леуськовым вторым. 42 пилота на финише, а я даже не долетела - перестаралась, называется.

The day turned out to be good again without rain (only with a little overcast at one stage) and we had quite a fast race. Gerolf won the day again with Vladimir Leuskov second. 42 pilots made goal and I didn't - I was just rushing myself to the ground:( - not happy.

Несмотря на достаточно хорошие результаты в индивидуальном зачете, команда "Cute Asses" ("Симпатичные Задницы") не выигрывает в командном зачете. Вы все наверное задаетесь вопросом: ПОЧЕМУ? Да просто потому что мы не нашли достаточное количество симпатичных задниц среди участников Чемпионата Голландии ;-)

И теперь важное объявление: как многие уже наверное знают, команда Cute Asses будет соревноваться в Толмине на следующей неделе. Если вы вдруг знаете кого-нибудь, кто собирается на Чемпионат Словении и имеет подходящую задницу или вы находите подходящей вашу - ПОЖАЛУЙСТА, СООБЩИТЕ НАМ!!!

Despite doing well on the individual scores, team "Cute Ass" isn't winning the team event. You all might be wondering: WHY? Well, we just couldn't find enough cute asses among all the Dutch competitors ;-)

So, here is an important thing: As you might know, the Cute Asses Team is competing in Tolmin next week again. If you happen to know anyone who is going to the Slovenian Open and might qualify, or if YOU do qualify yourself - PLEASE, LET US KNOW !!

Dutch Open - Tasks 1, 2 & 3

Итак, сейчас у нас вовсю идет Чемпионат Голландии. Да, Чемпионат Голландии в Италии, что такого:) Между делом мы, русские, проводим Кубок России. Потому что русских здесь до фига:) Всего 80 пилотов, из них голландцев - 19, русских - 13 (плюс еще сколько-то фрифлаеров):)

So, now we are taking part in the Dutch Open. There are 80 pilots in the comps, 19 of them are Dutch and 13 of them are Russians:)

9 августа - первый таск, 95 км через 3 ппм, просто туда-сюда по хребту. 37 человек на финише. Я прилетела одна из последних. Таск выиграл пилот из Бразилии Alexandre Trivelato. В Рашн Кап зачете - Вова Леуськов.

9th of August - the first task: 95 km with three turnpoints, just kind of ridge soaring back and forth. 37 pilots made goal. I made it to the goal, but flew very slow. The task winner was Brazilian pilot Alexandre Trivelato.

10 августа - второй таск, 120 км через 5 ппм. Опять туда-сюда, но с двумя вылетами в другие долинки - на севере и на юге. Прилетела опять одна из последних, но уже быстрее, чем вчера. Все болит с непривычки. Но так, ПО-CЧАСТЛИВОМУ болит, так, КАК НАДО. :)
День выиграл бельгиец Jochen Zeischka, в Рашн Капе - Антон Струганов.

10th of August - the second task: 120 km with 5 turnpoints; ridge soaring back and forth again, but now with the short part out in the valley. I made it to the goal and was one of the last ones again, but at least faster than yesterday:) Every part of my body hurts - for two months before it was not used for flying. But I must say it HAPPILY hurts, it hurts the way it SHOULD hurt:)
The task winner was Belgian pilot Jochen Zeischka.

11 августа - еще круче таск. 129 км в другую долинку на юге и обратно. Туда раньше не летали. Там сложно. Там надо выживать. Не верила, что "выживу" - но все-таки долетела до финиша:) Йееххооу:)
Герольф выиграл таск на этот раз, после финиша как обычно выпарив обратно на старт и сев там, чтобы согнать машину.

11th of August - another task, even better. One hundred twenty-nine kilometers out into the other valley on the South and back. We haven't flown in that direction before. That is not an easy place to fly, I must say. One has got to work work work work there to make it back to the goal. Until the last thermal I didn't believe I was gonna make it. But I did!!! Yee hawwwww!:)
Gerolf won the day and after he made goal he climbed up and landed back on the launch (as every day, actually) to drive his car down.

Погода все три дня просто офигенная. Южный несильный ветерок (вечером правда переходящий в несильный северный), облака выше двух штук, солнце, жара.

The weather conditions are really nice here lately. South light winds (which turn into the north winds in the evening), the cloubase is higher than 2000 meters, lots of sun!

Много счастливых лиц, кто-то бьет свои личные рекорды. Пилот из моего родного Челябинска, Александр Барвинский, побил тут уже два своих личных рекорда - по дальности и по продолжительности полета. Поздравляю:)

Lots of happy faces around. Some pilots made their personal best. Aleksander Barvinskiy, pilot from my home town Chelyabinsk, just made a longest-distance flight and the longest-time-in-the-air flight:) Congratulations:)!

Flying Party at Monte Cucco

И КАК ВСЕГДА в день закрытия - просто отличная погода. Наверху - куча глазеющих туристов и не меньшая куча выпендривающихся пилотов:)))

As ALWAYS the best weather conditions were on the day of the prize giving ceremony. LOTS of tourists on the launch and LOTS of showing off pilots:)

PreWorlds Is Over

А тем временем на ПредМире был разыгран крайний таск. Итого - четыре таска общей продолжительностью 363 км.

Meanwhile they had a last task at the PreWorlds. So, after all they had four tasks 343 kilometers long altogether.

The winners are Manfred Ruhmer, Jonny Durand and Mario Alonzi.

Malibu Flying In Castelluccio

Кастеллучио - клевое место! Всего около 80 км по прямой от Монте-Кукко, высокогорное плато, абсолютно ровное, окруженное горами. Выглядит как чаша, в которой можно стартовать на любой ветер! Старты ровные, травянистые, добрые. Позади горы высокие. Полеты на любой вкус! И рай для новичков - очень удобно иметь склон под любой ветер.

Castelluccio is a really cool place! Only 80 km straight line distance from Monte Cucco, high-altitude and absolutely flat plateau surrounded by high mountains. Looks a bit like a bowl, where you can launch in any wind direction! A real paradise for the beginners:) And not only for beginners!

Сам Кастеллучио, как и многие итальянские (испанские, кстати, тоже) деревушки, расположен на вершине холма в виде крепости - чтобы враг не подступился.

Castelluccio village, as with many others Italian (and Spainish also, by the way) villages, is located on the top of a hill, so that enemies could not capture the town.

Back In The Air

А мы - летать! Периодически проходят заряды дождей. Но ветер - южный и достаточно сильный, чтобы можно было играть на старте с Малибу, садясь на вершинку.

Despite the recurrent rain we were flying! The winds were south and strong enough to play with Malibus on the Monte Cucco take off. Soaring, ground skimming, landing on the launch.

Очередной заряд дождя все-таки смыл меня вниз на поле, но счастья все равно полные штаны:) Летаем:)

One of the cloudbursts washed me down to the landing field. But I was really happy anyway:) We fly:)!

First Day In Sigillo

Вообще русских в этих соревнованиях участвуют 13 человек. Плюс еще довольно много фрифлаеров - даже не могу сказать точно, кто-то уезжает, кто-то приезжает. Живут они разрозненно, не все вместе.

There are 13 Russian pilots taking part in this competition. That's quite a lot, huh. And also there are quite a few Russian free flyers.

Austria -> Italy

Ехали из Австрии в Италию и нас буквально смывало с дороги дождями. Проходящий в Монте Кукко ПредЧемпионт Мира не радует хорошей погодой. Мы приехали в день, который был отменен. И предыдущий день тоже был отменен. 144 пилота (+организаторы, + драйверы и т.п.!) слоняются туда-сюда и ждут погоды.

We were driving from Austria to Italy through heavy rainfall. The PreWorld competition which takes place in Monte Cucco doesn't really have nice weather conditions currently. They canceled the day today. And the day before as well. 144 pilots (+organizers, +drivers, etc) are just hanging around and waiting for better weather.

Монте-Кукко - замечательное место. Особенно когда солнечно и южный ветер. Дружелюбные горы, много места на старте, возможность сесть на уровне старта.

Monte Cucco is a cool place, actually. Especially when it is sunny and the winds are south. Friendly mountains, lots of space on the take off, and the possibility to land back on the launch.

В этот раз погода так себе. Плюс настроение пилотов портит воздушное пространство - потолок в 1800 метров.

This time the weather conditions are not really nice. Also the airspace with the 1800 meter ceiling doesn't make competing pilots happier.

Вырваться из города! В самую настоящую жизнь:)

Первую ночь здесь просыпалась несколько раз от ночного кошмара, что никуда я не улетела, что я в Челябинске и мне все приснилось. Просыпалась, смотрела вокруг и засыпала самым счастливым человеком:)

Back to the REAL LIFE:)

The first night here I woke up several times from a nightmare that I haven't flown here, but that I was still in Chelyabinsk, and it was just a dream. I woke up, looked around and went to sleep being the happiest person in the world:)

Этот летающий гигант перенес меня в рай:) Очень очень хочу наконец-то заобнимать всех-всех русскоговорящих друзей (ну и парочку иностранных, так и быть), летающих сейчас в Италии! Соскучилась!!! И больше всего на свете хочу наконец-то ЛЕТАТЬ:)
This flying giant brought me to Paradise:)
Can't wait to see all my Russian friends (and a few not Russian as well:) in Italy! And most of all - can't wait to be back in the air with my wings:)
