Time To Tell Stories

Август, незабываемое время летать, заканчивается -> наступает время рассказывать истории.
August, the splendid time to fly fly fly, is over. Now comes the time to tell the stories.

Мой август прошел в австрийских Альпах и немного в итальянских Доломитах. Без особо длинных полетов, но с постоянными попытками перепрыгнуть через голову и полететь там, где летать сложно. Но зато как красиво!
I spent this August mostly in the Austrian Alps and a little bit in the Italian Dolomites. I didn't fly really long distances, but every one of my flights was an attempt to jump over my shadow and to fly where it is not so easy to fly... very wild and beautiful but:)!

Austrian Open - Day 3 & Results

Третий день был самый лучший. Кромка аж до 3700, облачка, красотень. Поставили маршрут 150 км с возвращением в лагерь и с обязательным заземлением до 6 вечера, и мы погнали.
The third day was simply the best. Cloud base up to 3700 meters - amazing. They set a 150 kilometer circular task with the task deadline at 6 pm; and we started our race.

Летела я неожиданно неплохо. Только одно отклонение маршрута после второго ппм. Быстрее чем всегда летела, пока не заблудилась. Не могла найти 4й ппм (как потом оказалось, многие столкнулись с этой проблемой). Это капец. Уже и высоты не было пролететь сверху сразу напрямую. Сначала в первое ущелье заглянула - не там. Потом во второе - о, должно быть здесь. Летишь по стрелке, 4 км осталось, 3 км, 2 км - поднимаешь глаза - оппа - стенка - упераемся в гору, черт, ппм в следующей долине. А ты уже ниже, потоки фиг найдешь на теневой стороне. Короче, протормозила я там долго долго долго. Ну, успела долететь до финиша до 6 вечера, и то хорошо. 150 км! Вчерашний рекорд побит:)
I flew surprisingly not that bad. Only one detour after the second turnpoint. I flew faster than usual until I got lost. I couldn't find the fourth turnpoint (as it turned out later, lots of pilots had the same problem). Horrible. I didn't have enough altitude for flying above all those valleys and mountains straight to the turnpoint. I tried the first valley - wrong. Then I flew to the next valley - ok, it should be it. I was flying, looking at the GPS arrow, counting kilometers: four kilometers left, three, two - bang! The wall! Instead of the turnpoint I had the rocky mountain in front of me. Damn, the turnpoint in the next valley, when I am lower than the ridge on the shadow side. Not clever. So, I slowed down and spent plenty of time there. Good that I, at least, made goal before 6 pm. 150 kilometers! Yesterday's record got beaten:)

Austrian Open - Day 2

Второй день выдался совершенно безоблачным. Потоки до 3300 метров, слабый ветерок. Поставили таск 120 км - замкнутый маршрут, немного напоминающий треугольник.
The second day brought us lots of sun, no clouds, ceiling up to 3300 meters and weak winds. They set a 120 kilometer circular task, kind of a triangle.

Красиво, да:) Особенно на третьем поворотнике, фотки которого у меня нету. Там такие впечатляющие отвесы:)
Beauty, yees:) Especially there was a very spectacular area around the third turnpoint, but I didn't take any photos or videos from that place.

Летела я медленно. Черт. Тормоз я тормоз. Сначала упала низко и долго выкорябывалась, в это время все улетели, и потом я одна всю дорогу медленно, по верхам, лишь бы больше не опуститься ниже, летела. Самую большую задержку принес улет в сторону от маршрута в более высокие горы. Не надо было.
I was flying slowly. Damn. I am such a stubborn person. In the begining I got very low and all the pilots passed me. Then I flew alone all the way, keeping high altitude, scared to get low again. Big detour to the higher mountains after the thrid turnpoint caused me the biggest delay. I shouldn't fly that far from the route.

Но вообще, для меня 120 км замкнутого маршрута - это круто. Так что хоть и последняя на финише, но - на финише.
But, honestly, 120 kilometers of such a circuitous is already quite good for me. I was the last in the goal, but I made goal:)

Победители таска - Мартин Хари, Франц Герман и Гунтер Шурниг. 31 человек из 52 на финише.
The second task winners were Martin HÄrri, Franz Herrmann and Günther Tschurnig. Thirty-one out of the 52 pilots made goal.

Austrian Open - Day 1

И все-таки мы урвали немного отличной погоды. Трехдневный Чемпионат Австрии в офигенном месте Zell am See (всего 10 км лёта до высочайшей точки Австрии - Гроссглокнера!!!)
Finally we've got perfectly flyable weather conditions:) The three day long Austrain Open was in a very spectacular place named Zell am See, which is only ten kilometers away from Großglockner, the highest top in Austria!!!

Первый день сначала напоминал Тегельберг. Въехали по канатной дороге в непроглядное облако на старте, вылезли в снег и просидели полдня в ожидании погоды. Но! Она пришла! Погода пришла. Облака поднялись, вышло солнце (как сказал Тёма, солнце было непобритое в тот день, потому что даже оно не ожидало, что его кто-нить увидит:). Погода была поздняя, поэтому таск короткий. И мы полетели:)
The first morning reminded us of Tegelberg. On the cable car we rose into the milky clouds, which was covering our take off. We put our gliders in the snow and waited for the sun half of the day. But! The difference was that the sun finally appeared! The clouds came up, the sun showed up (as Artyom said, the sun even forgot to shave that day, because he didn't expect anybody would see him:). The weather was late and we flew a short task.

После второго поворотника я, как и все нетерпеливые чайники, слилась и села. Неоднозначно было, как там выживать:) Но, вы только представьте наши счастливые лица. Летаем же ж:)!
After the second turnpoint I landed out, as lots of impatient and not experienced enough pilots did. It was just not very obvious then how to get high again:) But you should imagine our happy faces. Happy because we all were just back in the air:)

В тот день первыми были Том Вайзенбергер, Герольф Хенрикс и Роберт РАйзингер. И всего 52 участника.
There were 52 pilots flying in the competition. The first task winners were Tom Weissenberger, Gerolf Heinrichs and Robert Reisinger.

My May European Trip...

... is over.

Итак, майский европейский трип закончен. Я уже в Челябинске, уже "окунутая" с головой в очень динамичную городскую жизнь.
So, I am already back in Chelyabinsk, already deep into a very dynamic city life.

Давно не писала - потому что наконец-то была погода и мы летали, летали, летали... Пара крайних полетов, кстати, действительно стоили того месяца ожиданий, который мы провели под снегами, дождями и туманами.
I haven't written here for a while, because we finally got some long hoped-for good weather conditions and we flew, flew, flew... A couple of the last flights apparently were worth whole the month of waiting under the rain, snow and fog.
